Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Witching Hour Chronicles. I'm your host, christine. So these last three weeks I covered we talked about astrology and the zodiac in your sun sign, moon sign, rising sign. In the last three episodes a little series I did I did have somebody recommend that I continue with the birth chart and move on to the houses of your birth chart. So I said, hey, that's a great idea. I don't know a lot about it, so I'm going to learn and then I'm going to teach you what I learned.

Speaker 1:

It's confusing, I'm not going to lie. So this little series is going to be 12 episodes, so 12 weeks, because we're covering the houses, and there are 12 houses in your birth chart and they go along with your zodiac and all that. But here's where it gets confusing. So it goes by what house was where when the time of your birth and then it also goes by what planets were in that house at the time of your birth and all these factors also play into your personality traits, along with your sun sign, moon sign, rising sign. Sorry if you hear growling. In the background, my 75 pound German Shepherd is wrestling my eight pound little Yorkie mix and they're running in circles and growling, so sorry if you hear some commotion in the background. Anyways, where was I? So 12 houses, planets. So if you look at your birth chart, it's a 360 degree circle and it's very similar to a clock, but it doesn't start like 12 1, 2, 3, 4, the 9 from the charts I've looked at, the 9 is where the 1 would be and to figure out the houses, you go in a counterclockwise direction. So I'm gonna get a little more into that, a little more explanation as I go. So yeah, in order to do this, to fill out your birth chart, you need to know the date, the exact time and the place you were born. I do know you can get on, you can google birth chart calculator, kind of like how you do, oh, my Google birth chart calculator. Kind of like how you do, oh, my goodness, these dogs. Kind of like how you do with your moon sign and your rising sign, same thing. You can get on there and it will give you a whole list of all of this. Anyways, so the 12 houses the first house begins at the nine o'clock and it goes the beginning, the beginning of it, which is the cusp, and you go counterclockwise and this counterclockwise journey is described as your soul's evolution.

Speaker 1:

The first six houses are personal houses. They rule our private and intimate lives. Our daily environment also plays in with our siblings, our peers, our parents. It's said that people who have a lot of planets in their first six houses may have a hard time like leaving the nest and want to stay home and be around where they grew up, their parents, their friends. They have a hard time leaving that. Houses seven through 12 are interpersonal houses. They govern relationships, joint ventures, travel, career, society, spirituality, even your transition at the end of life. People with a lot of planets in their later houses might be very career focused. They might have an easier time leaving home and making friends later on in life.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so we are going to get into the meaning of the first house and all I'm going to do each episode is I might do a little recap, but I'm just going to one house each episode because I also got to get into if certain planets are in that, in that house at the time of your birth, what that means. So, okay, the first house. It is one of four, what are called angular houses. So the first, fourth, seventh and tenth houses are all angular houses and they are kind of like the points of a compass North, south, east, west. These houses start each of four quadrants of the zodiac wheel.

Speaker 1:

Angular houses are also a lot like the cardinal zodiac signs. They tend to give people more courage to initiate things. They help form your identity in figuring out how you like to be seen by other people. The sign on the cusp, or the starting edge of the first house located at the nine o'clock point on the zodiac wheel, this is where your rising sign is. So whatever zodiac sign was positioned at this point is your rising sign. So, if you remember from the last episode, your rising sign kind of shows how you want to be seen in the world Kind of thing, how you present yourself to people. So we're going to get into the planets of the first house.

Speaker 1:

So the sun in the first house, it's like no matter how many ups and down life brings, being born with the sun in your first house kind of gives you strong survival instincts. The downside is you can be overly focused on yourself. Your friends might have to say, hey, come out and hang out with us. You are more focused on you than you are anybody else. Mercury in the first house. If you're born with Mercury in the first house. You tend to kind of you don't really look before you leap. You kind of speak without thinking and in order to channel those, I guess you can say Mercury's kind of fiery. You're really good at turning all that focus onto projects and in your goals. It's the challenge for you. Venus in the first house.

Speaker 1:

These people tend to be very passionate and don't really settle for less than what I read in this article. It said don't settle for less than all-encompassing attraction. It's kind of like love at first sight is very much a thing for you, and these kind of people tend to fall head over heels just in the blink of an eye, and it probably happens more than once in your lifetime. Okay, mars these people are known to be deeply driven go-getters. Bad day. It's really hard to keep your emotions in check. You have to kind of make yourself cool down before you decide to go pick a fight with somebody. Let's see Jupiter cool down before you decide to go pick a fight with somebody. Let's see Jupiter.

Speaker 1:

Jupiter, when you believe in something, you can be like overly zealous, but you tend to move on just as quickly as you. As you started, you kind of get obsessive about the things. You're starting, but then it just boom, you're done. Let's see Saturn, saturn, so Saturn in the first house. Normally Saturn is very cautious, deliberate and slow, but when it's in the first house it's almost the exact opposite. It's like you stop on the gas and you don't touch those brakes.

Speaker 1:

Uranus, let's see. You're very original, even like when it comes to the clothes you wear. It's not what's in, you wear what you like, what's comfortable. You will forever be very, almost teenager-like. Oh my gosh, these dogs are driving me crazy. Sorry, I'm getting distracted, but really that's all that planet said was you're kind of young at heart. I guess is a good way to put that. Neptune, you can't adapt your personality to fit any situation. That could be a good thing, that could be a bad thing. I mean, you can become what people want, and that's not really always a good thing, because you need to learn how to be yourself, because too much adapting tends to leave you feeling lost or stuck. And let's see here Pluto is the final one.

Speaker 1:

You're very intuitive. You know when you need to hide something and when it's time to reveal yourself. People are always wondering about you. They kind of want to know more, and it can create kind of a push-pull dynamic that kind of drives people crazy at the same time. That is all I have for the first house. I hope that you learned something here. So basically, your first house starts at your rising sign and then you move counterclockwise each house after that.

Speaker 1:

Planets are okay, and I did read something that said each house there's always a planet in it. But then I also read something later that said sometimes there's not a planet in that house at the moment you were born, kind of thing. I'm going to do some more reading. Like I said, there's going to be 12 episodes, so we're definitely going to learn more and I'm going to read up more about this. If I find I left something important out, I will add it to the next episode. But yeah, this is actually really fun and I'm glad I'm doing this because I've always wanted to learn about this and a lot of people I've heard say, yeah, I had my birth chart done and I just don't understand it. So I remember getting my birth chart done. My mom had it done for me when I was, I don't know, maybe 15 or so, and yeah, it was this thick kind of folder with all these papers in it and I had no freaking clue what any of it meant, and I kind of wish I still had that, but you know all these years later. Anyways, that's all I have.

Speaker 1:

Don't forget to follow on Facebook, instagram. I don't even know about TikTok anymore because I'm caring about a TikTok ban and that we won't be able to use it anymore, so I have no clue. Facebook, instagram. Follow on Spotify. Don't forget to follow and give a five-star rating. That would be amazing. Don't forget to head over to my website, which is thewitchinghourbuzzsproutcom, and click on the support tab and you can support the podcast monthly for as little as three dollars a month.
